How 'bout that Baudrillard?

Post  Db8rBoi on Sun May 10, 2009 1:42 am

Why is Baudrillard applicable to LD, at all? I have heard people throw his name around a little bit, but what alternative is there for a Baudrillard K?

He has a bunch of arguments that will link to pretty much anything. Disaster porn links to cases that talk about human rights abuses like crimes against humanity. He had some decent arguments about nuclear deterrence that worked last year. His arguments can also make a counter-k of a lot of arguments. Here's a file: http://www.scribd.com/doc/7317/Baudrillard-Kritik

he's also popular in policy, he gets read in death k's (the link is excessive death impacts in the 1ac which ultimately numbs us to the depth/meaning of death [i think.])

His "Simulacra and Simulation" has a great deal to deal with nuclear proliferation; I imagine it was used a lot in the nukes topic last year and it could be used for arguments for the "States ought not possess nuclear weapons" topic.
